Upgrading DELL Laptop Computer Memory

It is not hard at all to buy a new memory chip for your computer, but it’s really difficult and dangerous to install the memory into the memory slot. Upgrading a Dell laptop computer memory should be performed only by a technician that has been previously trained by Dell and who knows how to handle a Dell computer and knows to react when something unexpected occurs.

Usually the Dell memories have around 4 GB. Some of them let you expand the memory to 8 GB. Some Dell desktop computers let you upgrade the memory up to 12 GB. This is indeed a huge amount of memory, which is nowadays hard to place inside a laptop computer, which is smaller than a desktop and runs at a lower speed.

Or you can remove the first two chips containing each 2 GB and replace them with a single chip that includes 4 GB. You can do a lot of combinations, as long as the technology lets you. If there weren’t memory chips of 2 GB or 4 GB, then you would be forced to use memory chips of 1 GB.
