Most posts and articles on the internet will teach you how to remove and replace a damaged Dell laptop keyboard as the process is not that complicated as it sounds. All you have to do is have a bit of patience and the proper screwdrivers and you can solve the problem yourself without wasting any time by visiting a specialized computer shop. All you have to do is to buy a replacement keyboard which is suitable for the laptop model that you own and follow some easy steps which mainly require removing some screws and handling gently a couple of cables.

The way of taking your laptop apart actually depends from one laptop to another as some have screws which need to be removed only from the top and others have screws on the bottom side as well.

Just like we tell you in every article where we speak about taking apart your laptop, you have to make sure there is no electricity flow running through that unit. In order to achieve that, you have to remove the power cord from your unit and also to take out the battery from inside the laptop. Once these 2 things are done, it’s time to start removing screws! For example, here is how you can remove the keyboard on a Dell Inspiron 3700 of Dell Latitude CPxH, CPxJ, CPt or CPiR series. Flip the laptop so that you can reveal the bottom side and you will notice 7 screws that have the letter K on them and which need to be removed. Now you can flip the laptop face up again and open the lid to reveal the keyboard. By using a small flat head screwdriver you can start prying up the right edge of the keyboard but you must handle it with care.

When you have finished this process don’t start pulling the keyboard as it is still connected to the motherboard. There is a wide ribbon cable which needs to be grasped firmly and pulled straight up in order to free this connector. Once this is done, you can push open that locking tab of the ZIF connector. When this is opened, the keyboard can now be removed safely from the unit. To put the new keyboard in there all you have to do is take all these steps backwards and that should provide you with a perfectly functional Dell laptop keyboard.
